Bansal Groups is a family-run business house formed under the guidance and leadership of Mr. Laxman Bansal.
Starting from humble beginnings, Mr. Bansal has built this conglomerate through his continuous endeavors, hard work, and years of dedication as an entrepreneur and an industrialist.
Today, the group has presence in a vast foray of industries like ship recycling, STEEL SERVICE CENTER, MANUFACTURING OF SHEET COMPONENETS, steel trading/import, oxygen supply, etc. Our ESTABLISHMENTS are in Mumbai, Panvel, Bhavnagar, and Jamnagar.
The Bansal Group under the leadership of Shri. Sohanlal Bansal father of our chairman Mr. Laxman Bansal has always been an Iron & Steel Trading Business house since 1940’s operating in Mumbai & Punjab during that era with its first office in Mumbai at Bibijan Street, Nagdevi.
The Bansal family were the first few recyclers in India when Ship Recycling was being carried out at Mumbai during 1950’s headed by the father of our chairman.
The family expanded its business portfolio and added Forging of Iron & Steel in the 1971.
The family expanded its Forging business and Started a new Factory at MIDC Taloja in 1979 under the name of BANSAL METAL INDUSTRIES.
With the Ship Recycling Industry shifting from the crowded and congested space of Mumbai to Alang, Bhavnagar, Gujarat, Bansal Group were one of the key initiators and started its Recycling facility at Plot No. 32.
The Ship Recycling Industry being in the high growth curve, the family further expanded it to Sachana, Jamanagar, Gujarat in the year 1984 where it went on to become the largest Ship Recycler at Sachana Ship Breaking Yard.
In 1992, the group expanded its business to start a Steel Service Center for Cut to Length of Steel Coils at Taloja MIDC, Mumbai.
The group under the guidance and leadership of its chairman started Imports and Trading of Prime Finished Steel Products in 2013.
Today the Bansal Group of Companies are a reputed and an established business conglomerate in the Iron & Steel Industry with an Industry presence of more than 70 years.
Our Company History
Bansal Group was established by Mr. Laxman Bansal. Initially, the group worked in the field of imported and locomotive scrap. With the experience of more than 35 years, Bansal group is now a diversified business group engaged in the field of:
- Ship Breaking
- Industrial Oxygen Gas Manufacturing
- Export-import of scrap, metals
- Open Die Forging of MS and Alloy Steel
Shri Sohanal Bansal, who came to Mumbai in the early 1940s, was the catalyst. For a family-run steel factory in north India, he began dealing in iron and steel scrap. Later, he opened an office on Bibijan Street in Nagdevi. As time goes on, the group he founded expanded. They purchase junk railway carriages. This takes us back to their early days in the shipbreaking industry, which took place in the early 1960s in Mumbai’s Darukhana neighborhood.
They developed open die steel forging in Thane, Bombay. It’s worth noting that it grew to be one of the best steel forging firms in western India, with a substantial client base in the quality-conscious enterprises of the southern Indian area.
In 1979, they opened a new manufacturing facility in Panvel, Navi Mumbai’s Taloja district. In 1985, following the success of the Taloja branch, he established a new ship-breaking operation in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
In 1992, they transferred from Steel Forging to Steel Coil and Sheet Processing in Taloja. After that, they began ship-breaking operations in Alang, Gujarat, Asia’s largest ship-breaking port. Later, at Jamnagar, Gujarat, they began producing industrial and medicinal oxygen.
In 2015, they established Mild Steel Coils and Sheets Imports in Mumbai. SAIL Mild Steel Coils & Sheets Dealer in Mumbai, 2016. Finally, in 2015, they established a cutting-edge Steel Processing Center in Taloja, Panvel. In 2021, they even began producing sheet metal parts and components in Taloja. The Bansal Group has also dealt with bitumen and steel pipes.
TIME LINE
Dealing in iron and steel scrap
Purchased junk railway carriages and introduction of shipbreaking industry. Also developed open die steel forging
